Growth Mechanics

The algorithm-friendly ways to post and promote your vertical masterpieces.

01. Perfecting the Pre-Production

Before you even hit record, vertical video requires a specific mental shift. Unlike widescreen, you are working with height as your primary canvas. This means your subject needs to be centered vertically while maintaining "safe zones" for UI elements like captions and like buttons.

  • Always clean your smartphone lens with a microfiber cloth before shooting.
  • Lock your focus and exposure to avoid "pumping" during the shot.
  • Plan your hooks: the first 3 seconds are the most critical.

02. Cinematic Lighting for Social

Lighting can make a $1,000 smartphone look like a $10,000 cinema camera. The key to high-end vertical content is contrast. Don't just light the scene—shape it. Use a strong key light at a 45-degree angle to create depth on your subject's face.

Remember: Your background is just as important as your subject. A clean, textured, or neon-accented background adds production value instantly.

03. The Power of Post-Production

Color grading is where the magic happens. Even a subtle increase in contrast and a shift toward "cooler" shadows and "warmer" highlights can give your mobile footage that cinematic look. Use dynamic transitions only when they serve the rhythm of the story.
